Answer- Scientifically materials are called matter. Matter is made up of small particles. The smallest piece of matter is called particle.

Activity: Pour water into a beaker, plate, polythene bag, etc., Do you find any difference in its shape?

Answer-The fluid assumes the shape of the container it is in. But does not change in size.

Activity: Light an incense stick and allow its smoke to spread inside a jar. What is the shape of the smoke now?

Answer: A gas spreads throughout its container. And also varies in size.

Answer- An inflated balloon will come down due to weight, and an uninflated balloon will come down due to less weight. From this, we know that air has weight.

1. When ice is heated it melts and becomes water.

2. When water is heated it changes to vapor i.e. gas state.

3. Water turns into a liquid when cooled.

Answer-When materials are heated they expand. By this the iron can be shaped into the required shape.

Answer- When ice is heated it melts and becomes water.

              When water is heated it changes to vapor i.e. gas state.

Answer: When heating is stopped, the vapor slowly changes to liquid form.
